BRISIN Advocates One Stop-shop For Recruitment In Nigeria

The Basic Registry and Information System in Nigeria (BRISIN) has called for a common centralized database to be used by every employer of labour in Nigeria for job recruitment.

Head of BRISIN in Nigeria, Dr Anthony Uwa made the call in a statement at the weekend in Abuja.

A ccording to Uwa, if adopted, the platform will among other things, enable the government in power ascertain the number of jobs created per time in the country.

“BRISIN is proposing and coming up with a one stop shop for recruitment in Nigeria.

“Every Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs),corporate organisations and other employers’of labour will shop from the Data base.

“We also suggest that autonomous workers be registered in the data base for whatever activity they are into.

“The platform will reduce favoritism and corruption in employment process and encourage good labour management in both public and private organisations.

“It will also enable the government in power to know the number of jobs created at the local state and federal level during her administration,” Dr Uwa emphasised.

Uwa believes that having a centralised employment data base would not deny the private organisation their jobs, but help them to ascertain the rate of employment to the sector.

BRISIN is an integrated data and information system for the collection, storage, and distribution of data and information to support the management of the economy.

The aim is that the data received through the platform would be used to plan for the management of the nation’s resources.

It also gives new chances to labour management enhancement, he stated.

  • Omuno Moses says:

Is it a welcome development in Nigeria. Just imagine a centralized database implemented in Nigeria, Data integrity is maximized and data redundancy is minimised, as the single storing place of all the data also implies that a given set of data only has one primary record.
Since all the data is in one place, there can be stronger security measures around it. So, the centralised database is much more secure.
I hope for a better centralized Nigeria with brisin involved……BRISIN for a future Nigeria.

Thank you BRISIN ( The initiator )

    • Gorume Bridget says:

Like seriously Olakunle, it is has never happened before in this country where recruits for a government job will be selected based on merit. The normal norm is for applicants to get recommendation from politicians and only those that are connected will be employed at the end of the day, as a result most fresh graduates are becoming old graduates with no jobs which has made them to be restricted in terms of applying for jobs when age and year of graduation is part of the application requirements. The most painful part is that most of those recruited do not take their jobs seriously since some of them were begged from their comfort zone to accept the job and some were not even qualified for positions given to them and the end result is failure in the system. Therefore, I must really commend this system because very soon there is going to be a difference in this county. Thank God for this great idea…

  • Whenever, i read the potential brisin has, i feel like it start operation now. It made me to understand why it claimed to control the economy. Advocating for one stop shop means that the MDAs will source for data in brisin, and that will reduce corruption to the barest minimum. If people get jobs base on merit such people will do their best not to bring such organization down. The change we seek for, many years ago, is in BRISIN.

  • Akpezi A. Micah says:

“The platform will reduce favoritism and corruption in employment process and encourage good labour management in both public and private organisations”. The foregoing is one of the hallmarks of a nation ascending the ladder of development. Nigerians have been cornered a lot with respect to employment. Today, the inefficiencies and ineffectiveness in the government sector is as a result of the dearth of competent hands to handle and manage the huge volume of resources on behalf of the government and consequently the people.

In fact BRISIN is the sure cure to all these malaises thronging the system of Nigeria economy. It is a most welcome development.

well development in Nigeria and africa.

  • That’s a welcome development if implemented, it will go to the extent of curbing corruption, nepotism, favoritism, sectionalism, tribalism, god father-ism, and mediocrity but enthrone meritocracy in our society. On that same note sir, i would love if such similar gesture will be extended to educational sector, whereby there will be one stop shop of admission processing database for all institution in Nigeria. Be it Primary, Secondary and Tertiary institution will shop from the same database, by so doing, the federal government will know the aggregate of candidates that secure admission at the various strata of education and graduated. That is, the total number of students that entered and the total number of students that finished school at all levels of education. The statistics will enable the federal government to plan towards there welfare. Even the conduct of examination in Nigeria, be it internal and external examination should have a centralized database for it’s conduct. This will go to the extent of curbing exam malpractice in Nigeria which has being the order of the day in our society, which the JAMB registrar is fighting for, exam malpractice has really made our people lazy. Noon of our people work hard again in their academic pursuit, many of them depends on another to write exam for them. This has prodigiously affected our society academically. Thanks
